The Removing da Kink in my Mind Event: A Black Mental Health Event that I co-organized alongside my colleague Rachel Grant, founder of Balance SelfCare Counselling Services. A beautiful in-person event where we discussed depression, suicide and the importance of self-care.

Removing Da Kink in Our Minds Student Essay Competition

Are you a Black undergraduate student in Year 1-4 of your program in an accredited college or university in Canada with a passion and aspiration to help our people in the mental health field? Global Mind Emancipation and Balance Selfcare, two respective mental health businesses dedicated to advocating for and improving the way mental health care is provided to Black people of African descent, present the Removing Da Kink in Our Minds Student Essay Competition!

The 2 selected winners will each receive $1,000.00 (a total of $2,000.00). There is a college and university level pool for applicants and we are currently taking submissions.

This competition is for:
1. Black DOMESTIC and INTERNATIONAL students
2. Currently in year 1-4
3. Have plans to pursue the mental health field as part of their respective program
4. Are of the age of majority in your respective province/territory.
5. Are fluent in English.

The competition ends at the end of the day (11:59pm) on April 14th 2023.

Winners will be announced May 5th 2023.
